Extend Your Budget with Groupon

When living on a tight monthly budget there are often times I just want to splurge!  I remember the days when we lived "budgetless" and I would go shopping just because and go out to eat just because we could.  Now I think back at all the money we wasted!  Having a monthly planned budget is stressful, but in the end it is so worth it!

One way we splurge now is buy purchasing Groupons!  We get to go out to dinner still and get it for half price!  I get to go shopping and get my items for half price!  I still get a manicure/pedicure and guess what?  They are half price!

If you have yet to check out Groupon, now is the time.  Check out some of the deals now!

Groupon Partnering with Grocery Ghain

Groupon which disclosed plans to hold an initial public offering last week, has been looking at new industries where it can apply its group-buying model in a large-scale way. Recent efforts include national partnerships with Live Nation and Expedia to sell discounted tickets and travel offers.
Groupon has offered deals for grocers in the past. Last year, it offered a discount for upscale market Fox & Obel in Chicago. But the new partnership with Springfield, Mass.-based Big Y is the first time a multi-store grocery retailer has run a Groupon deal. Big Y operates 61 stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts. In addition, Big Y is the only retailer in any industry that has fully integrated Groupon deals into its loyalty card program.

"The grocery retail industry is a fantastic opportunity for us that has been largely untapped," Darren Schwartz, Groupon's senior vice president of sales, said in a statement.

On June 7, Groupon subscribers in Springfield will receive an offer to buy a Big Y "Shellfish Grill Pack," valued at $39.99, for $24. Shoppers that buy the voucher will be asked to enter their Big Y loyalty program membership number. When they buy the shellfish package, the deal is automatically credited at the cash register.

Ohh - I hope this comes to Giant Eagle!

Groupon

I just tried Groupon and I LOVE it! I just got an Eco-Friendly oil change from Lube for only $18!! The normal price is $37! What a great deal. We already get out oil changes at Lube Stop and use the Eco=Friendly oil so it was a perfect deal for me!

If you haven't signed up for Groupon, it's a really neat site. Each day they email you an amazing deal based on the city of your choice. Deals can be up to 90% off. Then, because Groupon uses the theory of collective buying power, they have to sell a certain number of deals or they cancel the deal and you don't get charged. That way you only get the most unbeatable price.

It's really easy to register and it's FREE. Here's what you do:
1.Register for Groupon
2.Check each day for their unbeatable deal (or sign up to have the deal emailed to you)
3.If you decide you want the deal, you just click on the buy button.
4.If the minimum number of people sign up, they charge your credit card and send you a link to your coupon. If not enough people sign up, you don't get charged (but you don't get the deal either).
