Super Foods


As a busy Mom of three young kids, it is a constant struggle in my home to put healthy meals on the table fast that my kids will eat!  I was reading an article in a magazine recently about Super Foods. 

Super Foods are nutritional powerhouse foods are loaded with nutrients crucial to a healthy, long life. If you can include a variety of them in your diet, everyday, they will change your life!  These foods were chosen because they contain high concentrations of crucial nutrients, as well as the fact that many of them are low in calories. Foods containing these nutrients have been proven to help prevent and, in some cases, reverse the well-known effects of aging, including cardiovascular disease, Type II Diabetes, hypertension and certain cancers.

Now it is probably impossible to remember this list when you are trying to grocery shop or make a quick dinner.  So when you need some healthy inspiration, use the acronym FAST & LEANFiber-rich grains, Avocados, oils and other healthy fats, Spinach, leafy greens and other vegetables, Turkey and other lean meats, Legumes, Eggs and dairy, Apples and other fruits, and Nuts and seeds.

So how about a nice spinach salad for dinner topped with avocados, turkey, peas, hard-boiled eggs, apples, and walnuts?
